I haven’t owned a boat in over 5 years as my focus has been on building the RAILBLAZA Company which I founded in 2009. I’ve decided testing new products on other people’s boats isn’t as much fun as testing them on my own, so I bought my dream sailboat, a French made 2005 Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 45.

For those who aren’t familiar with this model, she’s well equipped in the cockpit with many rails that can hold things for me, to make life easier.     

In this post you can see from the pictures I’ve used the rails to fit drink holders and a StowPod storage caddy. These are attached to our RailMount32-41 StarPort & RailMount combo.

The StowPod is going to hold my sunblock, binoculars and cell phone, all within easy access from either steering wheel. The drink holders here will hold my coffee in the morning and my beer in the evening.

The drink holders here are fitted just below the table line, making it easy to transfer hot drinks from the galley up through the companion way to the cockpit.

“I have recently moved to a new house and have been reminded just how useful the StarPort Wall slings from Railblaza are when it comes to not only storing my kayaks but to keep the property more functional with kayaks up off the ground and out of the way…  having them up on the wall slings also gives me the ability to store the kayaks over the winter months in a way that avoids build up of mold and debri from trees etc..”

Inside -  having  StarPorts fitted to the inside garage wall also gives me the ability to hang a couple of the kayak I will still regularly use over winter months, keeping them inside means they can be ready to go without needing a clean down and for the sea kayak it means the cockpit is dry and warm. Keeping them on the wall slings means the garage can still function as a garage without my kayaks taking up all the space… happy wife happy life 😉

On boats, in the trailer or storage shed the G-Hold & Eye combinations really do help keep things tidy and safe. On the kayak or canoe this is an ideal option for securing rods for beach launches & landings or protecting rods from over hanging branches when fishing in narrow waterways for example. The one click slide lock on our StarPorts makes it easy to re-task the mounts for other RAILBLAZA accessories.

In the short video below and series of images you will see the many options you have using this combination, once you have identified the mount required for the job you can then choose between the WebEye 30 or Eye 25 for the rod tips and choose between three diameters of G-Holds – 35, 50 or 75 mm (1.3, 2 or 3 in). The larger 75mm G-Hold can take up to 3 rods. You can achieve a similar result by just using  a pair of G-holds or one larger G-Hold with one smaller G-Hold (50 & 35m for example)..
